Babati is a Tanzanian town and a district within Manyara region for which it also serves as capital. Babati Town is located about 170 km south of Arusha.

Babati is known for Kahembe's Trekking and Cultural Safari's, popular amongst tourists who like to interact with locals in villages and live in their homes, experiencing local traditions etc.

According to a 2002 survey Babati has 303,013 inhabitants. The city is the seat of the Tanzanian Teachers Union (Tanzanian Teachers Union).
